About Us

National Travel is an innovative leisure travel agency based in Brisbane, Australia and operating since 2016. We specialise in holiday, honeymoon and membership travel. Our ‘customer first’ service is backed by leading-edge technology, digital platforms and the best people in the industry.

We have an experienced leadership team who bring a mix of travel, both leisure and business, travel technology and broad commercial dealings. Couple that with a highly experienced and talented consulting team and 24-hour support and you have a very compelling reason to work with National Travel.

We stress the details so our travellers can experience intimate encounters with real people and places without distraction. The key to making that happen is respect and mindfulness for the traveller, the place they travel to and the people who live there. To us, travel is about more than escape. Our Executive Team

David Sumich

Managing Director in

David built the International Express Travel Group from a Sydney based local travel agency in Australia in 1999 to a national travel management company with offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth. Clients included Apple, Bosch and BG Group. In 2007, he sold the company to BCD Travel, the world’s 3rd largest Travel Management Company. David has since owned a digital marketing company in Australia, that specialised in the tourism market and brings that experience to National Travel. David is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Commerce.

Jordan McNamara

Head of Human Resources

Jordan has over 10 years of management experience in human resources and recruitment, having worked for some of the country’s largest transport, logistics, and pharmaceutical companies. After spending 7 years at BCD travel, she has joined National Travel overseeing talent management, HR policy and employment legislation, IR/ER, organisational design and development, remuneration and benefits, employee well-being and workplace safety.

Maite Newell

General Manager in

As an experienced technology executive, Maite Newell understands the challenges and complexities of selling consultative and technology solutions. She has implemented major travel systems across the Asia Pacific. Extensive Travel Technology and Operational Experience with a global TMC. Certified Consultant - Salesforce, Pardot, Hubspot and Google Adwords.

Mary Jayne Lawless

Marketing and Product Coordinator

Creating magical holidays for clients, learning about new destinations and sharing her knowledge is what she loves most about her job. She has visited over 55 countries across the world.

Livia Xia

Head of Commercial Finance

As a qualified CPA, Livia has over 12 years finance experience in the travel industry. With stints at global travel companies both here and in Asia, she brings a wealth of experience. Livia oversees the global financial functions across National Travel.
