Accommodation: Bamurru Plains
Bamurru Plains is the kind of place that reminds you how vast Australia can feel. Set on Swim Creek Station near Point Stuart, it sits on the coastal floodplains of the Mary River Region, just beyond Kakadu.
This is an all inclusive safari camp in the tropical Top End, where the day is shaped by wildlife and wide open skies. Expect saltwater crocodiles in the waterways, buffalo moving through the plains, and extraordinary birdlife, including the seasonal spectacle of tens of thousands of magpie geese.
Accommodation is intentionally intimate, with ten safari bungalows and two larger private retreats, the Kingfisher Suite and Jabiru Retreat.
The safari bungalows are fan cooled and designed for immersion, with floor to ceiling mesh walls that bring the floodplain in close, while still feeling comfortable and considered.

How to get here?
By charter flight from Darwin
Charter flights depart from Darwin Airport’s general aviation area, with a flight time of around 25 minutes. On arrival, you will be met at the airstrip and transferred to the lodge in a Bamurru 4WD, around 25 minutes. Luggage is typically restricted to 15kg per person in soft bags.
By road
Driving from Darwin is approximately 3 hours, with the final sections on unsealed public and station roads. If self driving, you must wait at the main entrance gate for staff escort and transfer, as guest vehicles are not permitted to drive through the property to the lodge.
Why not?
If you want an Australian safari that feels genuinely remote, Bamurru is unforgettable. It is immersive and wonderfully unfiltered, with the comfort of a hosted, all inclusive lodge and the rare privilege of watching the floodplain come alive right outside your room.
Bamurru Plains operates seasonally, and is closed during the peak monsoonal months each year. Minimum stays apply, offers are subject to availability and inclusions can vary by date, accommodation type, and seasonal program. Conditions apply. Applicable inclusions will be confirmed by your National Travel consultant at time of enquiry.
